IDEX Biometrics ASA, the leading provider of advanced fingerprint identification and authentication solutions, has been granted a patent by the UK Intellectual Property Office for unconnected on-card enrolment on biometric smart cards.
This patent is in the same patent family as enrolment patents granted to IDEX Biometrics by the United States Patent and Trademark office and IP Australia earlier this year. IDEX Biometrics also has patents pending for this innovation in other major territories, in addition to its large portfolio of patents and applications covering its world-leading fingerprint sensor and biometric algorithm technology.
Stan Swearingen, CEO of IDEX Biometrics, commented, “The UK is a strategically important market for biometric smart cards and recent high-profile bank pilots in the country substantiate that remote enrolment is crucial for mass deployment. Our unconnected on-card enrolment solution provides the ability to enrol a fingerprint in a simple, secure and convenient way. We are confident that it is becoming the industry standard.”
